The North Delhi Lawyers Association (NDLA) organized the “Justice Media Award” 2025 ceremony on Friday at the India Habitat Centre in Delhi. The event was graced by former Supreme Court judge Justice Hemant Gupta as the Chief Guest. Among the special guests were NCLT Chairman, NHRC Member and former Chief Justice of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court Justice M.M. Kumar, NHRC Member and former Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court Justice B.R. Sarangi, and former Law Secretary P.K. Malhotra.
Justice Hemant Gupta and Justice M.M. Kumar emphasized the importance of the Bar and the Bench. They also highlighted the crucial role of legal reporting as a bridge between the judiciary and the public. However, they expressed concern over how electronic media sometimes broadcasts court observations as final verdicts, which can be misleading.
Sumit Kumar Receives Legal Reporting Award for the Third Time
At this event, Sumit Kumar, Legal Editor of Bharat24, was honored with the “Justice Media Award” for his outstanding work in legal reporting. This prestigious award is given to journalists who excel in covering legal beats such as the Supreme Court and Delhi High Court.
NDLA selected Sumit Kumar in the Broadcast Journalism category for his work with Bharat24. This marks the third time that Sumit Kumar has received the Justice Media Award, having been previously honored in 2022 and 2024.
