TVS Orbiter Set to Launch in India – Cheapest Electric Scooter from TVS Yet?

TVS Motor Company is all set to unveil a brand-new electric scooter tomorrow, August 28, as it looks to broaden its EV portfolio. This upcoming model is expected to be a more affordable offering compared to the existing iQube range and will likely sit below it in the brand’s lineup. Although the official name hasn’t been confirmed yet, recent teasers suggest the scooter could be called the TVS Orbiter—a name the company has already trademarked in India.

Positioned Below iQube

Currently, the TVS iQube electric scooter is priced between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the variant and battery pack. The new scooter, however, is expected to carry a more budget-friendly price tag. With this move, TVS aims to cater to a wider audience, especially those seeking affordable urban mobility solutions.

This new model is expected to rival entry-level electric scooters like the Ola S1X, Vida VX2, and base variants of the Bajaj Chetak.

What to Expect from the Orbiter

While detailed specifications remain under wraps, the Orbiter is likely to feature a minimalistic yet modern design. To keep costs low, it may come with a hub-mounted motor and a smaller battery pack. Expect limited features compared to the iQube, possibly omitting premium tech to maintain an attractive price point.

Battery and Range

The iQube currently offers multiple battery configurations—2.2 kWh, 3.1 kWh, 3.5 kWh, and 5.3 kWh. The top-end 5.3 kWh variant provides an IDC range of 212 km per charge, while the 2.2 kWh version delivers up to 94 km. It’s likely that the Orbiter will adopt the smaller battery setup to enhance affordability and suit shorter commutes.

Feature Set

TVS iQube is known for its rich feature list, including a touchscreen dashboard, smart connectivity, and other advanced tech. While the Orbiter may not carry all these high-end features, it’s expected that TVS will retain some key offerings to ensure it remains competitive in the segment.

With the launch just around the corner, all eyes are on TVS as it gears up to introduce what could be one of the most accessible electric scooters in the Indian market.
