Journalist and news anchor Ananya Dutta has joined HOOK Global, taking up the role of Senior News Editor & Anchor. The move comes after her stint at Hindustan Times, and before that she was an anchor at WION. Her career so far spans international news coverage and digital-first journalism.
Ananya started her career in 2019 with WION, right after graduating from the Asian College of Journalism. She joined as a writer, but was soon given the chance to anchor. Over time she became a regular face on prime-time shows, geopolitical coverage and election programming.
After more than five years at WION, she moved to Hindustan Times in January 2025. There, her focus was digital journalism, and she helped launch several new digital shows (IPs). Her responsibilities ranged from researching stories and writing scripts to shortlisting experts and supervising production.
Having now left Hindustan Times, Ananya begins a new chapter at HOOK Global. Her role goes beyond writing and anchoring: she will help shape the newsroom’s editorial direction and push its news content forward with fresh ideas.
Speaking about the move, Ananya said that joining HOOK Global gives her the opportunity to learn and take on new challenges. She hopes to help build a newsroom that stays curious about global news, experiments with new formats in journalism, and creates content with the audience’s needs in mind.
From writing and anchoring at WION to building digital shows at Hindustan Times, Ananya Dutta’s career has been one of steady progress. It will be interesting to see what her new innings at HOOK Global brings.
